Vicky graduated from the University of Bristol in 2006, having qualified as a VN earlier that year. During the 4-year degree she worked in both small animal and mixed practice. It was during this time she started to develop an interest in anaesthesia and analgesia. In 2013 she gained her Veterinary Technician Specialist in Anaesthesia and Analgesia status.
Vicky was employed by the University of Bristol referral hospital in 2006 in the newly created post of anaesthesia/ MRI nurse. During this time, she developed the anaesthesia side of the role and concentrated on this aspect for 7 years. Vicky supervised both veterinary surgeon and nurse undergraduates whilst on clinical rotations within the referral hospital.
In 2018 she moved to Bridgewater and Taunton College as an Associate Lecturer and a Internal Verifier. She also works as an anaesthesia nurse locum.
Vicky has co-authored anaesthesia chapters within nursing textbooks, lectured at both international, national and regional CPD meetings and written articles for the veterinary press. She is the Nurse/technician representative on the Executive Committee of the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists.
Her main areas of interest are pain assessment and management and advanced anaesthesia monitoring techniques.
